I loved the double meaning of the term "outsider" - the literal and the play on outside. We made it in an rad English Dry Wax. Its an modernized version of wax canvas with an updated blend of waxes that give it a lighter, "dry" feel compared to traditional wax canvas but retain all the water proof qualities.

Normally I like a little more structure in the front, but I really love everything about this hat. I was bummed that they were sold out because I wanted to buy a backup. Luckily I found one through a retailer! Ampal makes a solid product & is a very responsive to their customers. Good product + Good people = I'll be back!

I bought the Outsiders hat based completely on aesthetics alone. Call me shallow, it’s the truth. I brought it with me travelling Southeast Asia this November: Indonesia, Bali, & the Philippines. By the time I got back to LA, it was practically in its original shape. It’s been in the Indian Ocean, through the jungle, sweat, a little bit of blood, and a monsoon or two. The wax finish really helped. And damn, my expectations were low. All in all, far surpassed my assumptions on quality. Ampal is a new favourite. Thanks for making rad things.
