In order to maintain the level playing field, Porsche supplied 3 extra IROC RSR's as spare race cars, since racing happens. After 2 cars suffered damage in the first race, the Black car was called up for the next IROC race at Riverside and didn't look back. George Follmer started in 9th, but took the checkered flag. In the next race Mark Donohue and the black car were untouchable and easily took the win - 2 IROC starts, 2 IROC wins. After a few more victories and podiums around the US, during testing in late 1974 the Black car ended up wheels up. The drivetrain was stripped to continue racing, while the body sat badly damaged until 2007\/08 when it underwent a full restoration.
