CicLAvia took over the streets of Los Angeles today. It was amazing to look out the window and see the streets teaming with life instead of frustrated drivers and aggressive buses. I saw everything from aerospokers and girls on cruisers to tall bikes and families of all ages. I started snapping a few pics and decided to do a timelapse of sorts.

LA really needs to do this more often and work toward implementing better bicycle lanes and safety. Our city is so flat, its perfect for easy commuting. After biking to work for over a year, the city had really sucked the fun out of riding for me. Events like this really want me to get out there and ride more.

WILD in the STREETS Snap Back

We did our own special heavy acid wash on a locally sourced 100% cotton denim. Like all well worn denim, no 2 are alike and each hat will continue to age gracefully. To complete the desconstructed vintage look we didn’t use any buckram in the front panel to give it that worn in look, while the weight of the denim provides structure. Contrast run stitch embroidery and construction stitching completes the look. Locally made in Los Angeles, its one of our new Spring hats.

Even if you haven’t chugged 40’s before a show or lost your shoe in the pit, your hat will at least look the part. Available here or your local Ampal dealer.

We are proud to introduce our first collaboration. We worked with JOYRICH to create special versions of our ALAMEDA fedora and DRAPER pork pie with custom, made in LA, bands with some of their prints and complimenting special leathers. We also used some of their signature prints to create some of my favorite snap backs to date.

Heres the first version we cut of the Made in LA video. We used a track by our friends The Beehive Spirit. The suits in marketing thought we needed a more “pop” sound so we used Cut Copy. I think they both turned out great and wanted to share this one too.

Spent a week or so surfing in the desert and clearing my mind. In between the overhyped back-to-back-to-back swells and a few all time sessions we did a lot of logging and beach drinking, party waves and poses.

Talk about a trifecta of names.

Our buddy, Derek Dunfee, is premiering his movie this Thursday. Definitely worth checking out. We’ll be jammin’ some tunes (Party Sauce & Scorpion Breath) afterwards at Zenbu Lounge for the afterparty.
