Livin for the City

We were pretty stoked to see Curren$y‘s new video for “Living For The City.”

Spitta is wearing our REMINGTON snap back from FW12. We’ve been using this print for a few years and were the first to use it in hat, unfortunately we are sold out, but we do have some of the REMINGTON camp hat left. Ours are fully lined in premium satin as well.

Support the originals.

Trust – Dirty Gold for The Ampal Creative

Hailing from SD, the talented lads of Dirty Gold made us one hell of a mixtape for Friday the 13th weirdness. The mellow tempo is perfect for the muggy tropical weather we’re engaged in. Track list below.

Alabama Shakes live @ SXSW

“A staple of “Bands To Watch” lists far and wide, Alabama Shakes sure didn’t shrink under the open Texas skies during NPR Music’s 2012 SXSW showcase at Stubb’s on Wednesday night. Armed with a bright new batch of songs from the forthcoming Boys & Girls — not to mention booming, shout-along standbys like “Hold On” — lead singer Brittany Howard seemed to feed off a crowd 2,000 strong and packed to the exits. Commanding the spotlight with a generous set worthy of a headliner, Alabama Shakes ought to get used to playing for this many people in years to come…”

Sorry for lagging on posts lately, we’ve been in the lab working on FW12. This live set has been on repeat for the last week. Check out the original NPR post to download the whole set.

More updates soon.

LEGENDS – ’93 til

Phesto in a Brown WAX ON

I’ve wanted to go to SXSW for the last few years.

I’ve never been to Texas, and in my post Coachella world, the idea of checking out a bunch of live music in random little venues sounded magical. Heading into Austin last week, I knew there would be a few unexpected highlights. For me the best surprise was walking into the Windish Showcase to see Lee Fields & the Expressions belting out one of the most powerful and heartfelt sets I’ve ever seen. It was the first time witnessing a real Soul performance and I’m now a firm believer.

This short by Jeff Scher for American Royalty is an audio/visual treat. The animation flows fluidly with the song, and its refreshing to see an art music video. The song is great, and its exciting to see the AR lads develop into such shredding rockers and talented musicians. Their new EP is out on vinyl (ROOTS) 2/7 and digitally 2/14, and if you haven’t yet GO SEE THEM LIVE.

Waves ≠ Raves v. 17

waves17 Waves ≠ Raves v. 17

“The waves ≠ raves consists of hand-picked gems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.” – Tropicool, GDD/Mindtai

13. “I’m Gonna Destroy That Boy” – The What Four

This was what @NeutralFeatures said about this mix, and it is pretty much rock n roll/your teen years in a nut shell…

“There is no “musical theme” to this mix. This mix is based on a relationship I had about a year ago. This highs and lows. Each track embodies a different period of our time together.

“The Sonics can pretty much sum up our dalliance:

“Say there’s a girl
Who’s new in town Well,
you better watch out now
Or she´ll put you down
’cause she’s an evil chick
Say she’s the witch.

She got a long black hair
And a big black car
I know what you’re thinking
But you won’t get far
She gonna make you itch
’cause she’s the witch.

Welcome to Garage Froth Vol. 3

Sorry if that’s too cheesy.”
