Keith @ Carmichael

Keith Haring was one of my favorite artists as a grom. Something about his art always seemed so positive and “radiant.”
The Carmichael Gallery is going to be opening a show – May 8-29 – with over 20 original works on canvas, paper, vintage street signs and a rare vinyl blow up “Radiant Baby Doll.”

Sorry, Ive been in paradise lost aka Byron Bay aka the land of lords, swords and sport for the last 11 days with no internet. Its been refreshing and frustrating. I have a wealth of pics and vids to share with you soon. Until then, check this pic of Kevo, in the TAC, and Joaquin both lookin pretty creepy at the Banksy premier. Of course this went down – literally across the alley from Ampal HQ – when I was gone, but glad some of da boys made it out for it.

Fleeting Pastures

I was turned on to the amazing sand art of Jim Denevan through Patrick Trefz surf film Thread. At the most basic level, as describe on his site “Jim Denevan makes temporary drawings on sand earth and ice that are eventually erased by waves and weather.”
The precision of his patterns and lines is especially impressive considering the scale. This summer Jim created the largest piece of art in the world, this amazing – 3 MILES in diameter – piece in the deserts of Nevada.
It took 8 days and over 100 miles of walking. Check out this amazing video of the project:
Like the tides that reclaim his beach pieces, a massive rainstorm erased it a week after completion. If you saw the amazing vintage bus in the video, its Elvis’ old tour bus, out of which Jim runs his other business “Outstanding in the Field” where as an acclaimed chef he serves haute organic sustainable cuisine in its natural environment. Truly a brilliant mind.
