Kind of Blue

coast fade2 Kind of Blue
These are a few pics from a trip up PCH about this time last year. If an image can convey a temperature these are a welcome reprise from the onslaught of record heat in downtown LA.

All accounts of Nocturnal were that it was not one to be missed and these pictures tend to agree. 12th in an ALOHA snap back.

Waves ≠ Raves Vol. 1
Aeroplane – Superstar
Miami Horror – I look to You (ft. Kimbra)
Royksopp – This Space
Human Life – In it Together (Kris Menace Remix)
Groove Armada – I Won’t Kneel (Beaumont Remix)

“The Wave consists of hand-picked jems that inspire us, tickling and tempting our creative juices. Some are old, some are new, but it is what we are listening to now. They are groovey, flowing, and sun-kissed just like that perfect wave. They are uplifting and guaranteed to put a smile on your face. They sound the best with a babe in one hand, a cold brewski in the other, and the sand beneath your feet. Stay Dreamy.” – G.D.D.

If you can’t wait 2 weeks for the next one, head over to Gotta Dance Dirty for all your dirty dancin needs.

T. HOWARD

Terrence Howard T. HOWARD
Our friend sent us this pic of the ever dapper Terrence Howard looking sharp. The Academy Award nominated actor (Hustle & Flow) and star of one of our personal favorites, Crash, is rocking an ALAMEDA fedora.

AMPAL for JOYRICH

We are proud to introduce our first collaboration. We worked with JOYRICH to create special versions of our ALAMEDA fedora and DRAPER pork pie with custom, made in LA, bands with some of their prints and complimenting special leathers. We also used some of their signature prints to create some of my favorite snap backs to date.

Sorry but you have to wait until they drop them in the next few days to see all the product shots.

They will be available soon exclusively in the JOYRICH flagship stores in Japan and maybe LA. We may have a few of the pork pies and fedoras to offer in our webstore.

Music Makers

I always enjoy stopping by Media Contender HQ. Today I went by to chat with Danny and Franki Chan about a new project. Danny and Franki are heavily involved in the Los Angeles DJ/Electro/Dance music scene and have been behind some of best events. They are working on a new dance party that we might be involved with, but we can’t say anymore.

Franki’s signature fedora is now an Alameda.

Meanwhile in the studio, 12th Planet was rocking out in the new Aloha snap while finishing a remix for — – — that was sounding absolutely amazing. Its going to be released on Interscope and is going to BLOW up.

Made in LA version 2

Heres the first version we cut of the Made in LA video. We used a track by our friends The Beehive Spirit. The suits in marketing thought we needed a more “pop” sound so we used Cut Copy. I think they both turned out great and wanted to share this one too.

Greetings from the Desert

Our friend Steve has been living in Dubai for the last three years. Unlike most foreigners over there he’s been venturing outside the Dubai bubble and going on surf explorations in friendly places like Oman and Syria.

When Steve needed a hat we knew the Tubula Rasa Chambray snapback would be the perfect choice for staying shaded in the desert heat. He doesn’t care much for Iraq.
