moscot x common projects

moscot and common projects are two of our favorite brands.  they share a dedication to quality and classic understated design.  moscot has a rich heritage, crafting eyewear since 1915 and common projects has been making premium footwear in the search for the perfect sneaker.  they came together to create these epic sunglasses.   the matte finish is fresh, and something I’ve been looking for since persol stopped offering it a few years ago.  even the packaging looks like the premium leathers common projects is known for.  enjoy

Tony Alva – “ZIA” (detail)

Last night Tony Alva hosted an amazing art show at the La Brea Alva Skates store.  Die Posers Die showed original pieces from skate legends such as, Alva, Hosoi, Steve Caballero, Jason Adams, Lance Mountain, Pat Ngoho and more.  We showed up around 6:30 for the 7:00 opening and there was already a large diverse crowd lined up.

“lover’s land” an epic journey via motos and surfboards

“SO NATHAN [WEBSTER, AUSSIE PRO SURF SHREDDER] AND DUSTIN [HUMPHRIES, AUSSIE WATERMAN/PHOTOG] WERE TALKING TO ONE ANOTHER… THEY BOTH HAPPENED TO BE SMALL TIME MOTORCYCLE ENTHUSIASTS, AND THEY CAME UP WITH THE IDEA TO DO A MOTORCYCLE TRIP SOMEWHERE IN AUSTRALIA.  AFTER VERY LITTLE THOUGHT AND LESS PLANNING, THEY GRABBED A BEARDED THIRD ACCOMPLICE BY NAME OF SALSA, CALLED IN SOME FAVORS FROM DEUS, AND SET OUT FROM SYNDNEY WITH THREE 650 WHIPS WITH NO PLAN BUT TO FIND GOOD WAVES AND HANG WITH GOOD PEOPLE.  ALONG THE WAY THEY CONVENED FRIENDS, ARTISTS, KOOKS, PRO SURFERS, GRUMPY OLD FUCKS, GIRLS, MOMS, GROMS, HIPSTERS, WANKERS, HIPPIES, FILMMAKERS AND DESIGNERS.  THEIRS WAS A VOYAGE THROUGH THE LOVER’S LAND OF VAN DEMONS, ON A HIGHWAY TO SWELL…”

neighborhood music

We’ve seen a lot of really good music the last couple of months.  Nothing will match the size of Coachella, I’m sure you’ve seen the pics, but sometimes the random nights around the neighborhood are just as rewarding.  Last Thursday we cruised to Dance Right @ La Cita for DJ AM and it was good change of pace – it was almost a house party vibe, music and dancin inside, people relaxin and grabbin a smoke outside.
